Seri's First Cereal

There's an Indian tradition where the brother of the mom gives the baby their first bite of cereal with a silver spoon and bowl. Uncle Travis was here visiting so he gave Serianna her first bites, and she loved it! I wasn't sure if she was ready yet, but she slurped it right down, and then tried to take the spoon from him! After she was done eating, we put 4 symbolic items in front of her to see which one she picked up first. There was a book, lettuce (supposed to be dirt), money and a pen. She first tried to get the money, but couldn't get it off the tray, so then she went for the lettuce. This suggests she's going to be working with the earth. It was a fun little ceremony, and I'm excited to give her more food, maybe she'll chunk up!

Just For Fun

I did a little photo shoot with Seri today in a couple things she's about to grow out of, but are so cute I needed pictures before she did! Okay, maybe the little pink beanie is border line to small already, but she can still rock it!

A Day Off

This past Sunday I got a day off with my good friend Irma, in San Clemente. Unfortunately, when I first got there I wasn't feeling well so I ended up taking a long nap! (I'm so fun to hang out with!) But after I woke up I felt a lot better, and we were able to do some fun things. We saw the movie Julie on Julia (very good, I recommend it), we sat on the beach and visited (one of my favorite things to do), and we had a delicious dinner at Beach Fire in honor of Julia Child! ;) Or at least that was our excuse for ordering expensive items. Although I thought my head might split, I had a great time and felt totally re energized by the end of the day. Thanks Sal for being brave (this was his first day with both kids without me, and he did great!)

Seri looks a little frightened in the first picture! haha After the second picture Samson said "k, get hew offa me, she's to heavy, she's huwting my yegs!"

Seri's Stats

Seri had her 4 month Dr. appointment on Wednesday the 12th (a little late, she'll be 5 months on the 21st). Anyways, she did really good with her shots, barely even cried! According to their measurements she hasn't grown any longer (I think they messed up last month and measured her to long though because her jammies are tight on her toes now and she's in 3-6 month clothes). Height 22 3/4 inches, and a wopping 9 lbs 1.4 ounces! I knew she was tiny, but I was expecting her to be a little bigger than that! She's actually lost 1 pound since her last visit on July 1st. I've been supplementing with formula and I think she's already gained that pound back, YEAH!! We go back on Monday morning for an official weigh in, so I'm anxious to see where she's at. At first she wasn't digging the bottles, but now I think she prefers it. I have mixed emotions about that, but we'll just see what happens.....

More Painting

Samson wanted to help Daddy paint sooo badly. We found him a wall and let him go at it. He painted roads, a triangle (not the one you can see, he asked me to do that one), and the letters U & C (yes, he actually wrote them with the brush, on his own accord! Probably should have taken a picture of that, oops)

Sarcastic Much?!

So, yesterday I wore my hair in loosely braided pigtails. (figured I'd mix things up from the usual ponytail bun thingy) After I got Samson settled in his chair with chocolate milk and cereal, he stopped eating, starting laughing, and said--
S-"uhh, what awe dose?" (still laughing and pointing to my hair)
M-"they're pigtails"
S-(still laughing) "um, mom, awe you Teagan?!" (little girl from playgroup, who come to think of it does wear pigtails sometimes)
M-"no, does Teagan wear pigtails?"
S-"yes" (still laughing)
For the next few hours I heard the same thing 4 or 5 more times--
S-"uh, mom, awe you Teagan?!" (the entire time he's laughing)

(sigh) At this point I'm fairly certain he's mocking me.......................
